DEMAND FOR SIGHT & SOUND’S ‘MOSES’ IN CINEMAS DRIVES ENCORE SHOWING
August 30, 2018
WHAT
Originally set for a two-day only event in movie theaters, the nationwide presentation of Sight & Sound’s epic musical drama MOSES adds a September 20 encore showing. Strong early demand through Fathom Events for the original two events –September 13 and 15–drove the bonus presentation. Filmed in front of a live audience, the original stage production was seen by nearly two million people at Sight & Sound’s two live venues in Lancaster, PA and Branson, MO.
SYNOPSIS
Set adrift as a baby and now wandering in the wilderness, Moses is one unlikely hero—until God calls him into action. From the Nile River to the Red Sea, journey with Moses as he leads God’s people on an amazing adventure toward the Promised Land.
WHEN
September 13, 2018 – 6:30 p.m.

FUN FACTS
- The dozens of live animals in the show include horses, camels, donkeys, sheep and goats . . . (and stay alert for the trained rats).
- Don Harper, composer for MOSES, is a Hollywood veteran of scores for NATIONAL TREASURE and THE LION KING 1½, among many others.
- MOSES uses more video projection than any previous Sight & Sound production. And while past shows used three projectors max, MOSES uses 13.
- A rotating treadmill built into the stage becomes an engineering theatrical feat.
- MOSES’ massive sets reach as high as three stories (30 feet).
- MOSES’ 60 sets took more than two years to build, at a cost of $2.5 million.
- The burning-bush effect took a year to develop. In concert with God’s voice, the dramatic “flame” changes color, texture and temperature.
- MOSES features 379 costume designs for 880 costumes. Sight & Sound’s seamstresses sewed 16,000 snaps on by hand and used 12,348 yards of fabric—enough to wrap the theatre 46 times. The show features miles of hair, too, 400 wigs and 125 beards and mustaches.

About Sight & Sound Theatres
Sight & Sound Theatres began more than 40 years ago in rural Pennsylvania, where a dairy farmer went from producing milk to producing live entertainment with a purpose. Today that vision has expanded to two state-of-the art theaters in Lancaster, PA, and Branson, MO, where stories from the Bible come to life on stage. Each production features Sight & Sound’s signature massive sets, special effects and live animals. Still family-owned, Sight & Sound’s 675 staff members write, produce, design and build the original shows, drawing nearly 1.5 million audience members from around the world each year.
